Strike Successful : BNP

Shutdown ‘successful’, says BNP, asks supporters to carry on with blockade

Amid its indefinite blockade, the BNP-led alliance had called a dawn-to-dusk shutdown for Thursday after Reaz Rahman was shot Tuesday night. Later, it shortened the duration to 12 hours.
Meanwhile, the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan were surrounded by police on Thursday. No activists or leaders were seen there.

In a statement on Thursday, Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi asked party activists to carry on with the countrywide transport blockade which started on Jan 5.
"One behalf of the BNP, I congratulate the people on making the 12-hour shutdown a success. I also call on to carry on with the blockade until victory," reads the statement.
Public transports were plying on the streets of Dhaka, with train communications being normal.
Long-haul bus services were, however, suspended from the inter-district bus terminals in Dhaka.
No major incident of violences were reported from Dhaka.
